The section of Molecular biology in VPS lakeshore runs a laboratory providing quantitative HBV DNA assay and whole-exome sequencing analysis. The lab is located on the 3rd floor of the parent building of VPS Lakeshore hospital in Kochi. The department is headed by the Director of research and supported by two molecular biologists.

The department has processed over 2000 samples. The lab is integrated with the hospital information system to facilitate the rapid transmission of results to the clinician. The laboratory follows FDA guidelines for quality assurance.

The department accepts samples 24 hours a day through the central laboratory and provides "Time-bound, precise and accurate reports" to enable proper management of patients.
