A successful Minimally Invasive CABG

Minimally invasive CABG done on an elderly patient who has undergone PTCA 6 yrs back with in-stent restenosis (ISR), now presented with unstable angina (chest pain) and uncontrolled Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, peripheral vascular disease. His coronary angiogram showed a totally occluded stent and a new block above the stent. The patient had chest pain on exertion. They came from Pathanamthitta district to VPS Lakeshore for MIDCABG (minimally invasive CABG). MIDCABG was done under off-pump (beating heart) with one lung isolation and a small 5 cm incision at the 4th intercostal space and the block was removed by passing with a left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to LAD. The patient was extubated after half an hour post-surgery and is doing well.
