Dr, Vigneswara Srinivasan, Associate Consultant in Urology, at VPS Lakeshore hospital won the 'Best Video Prize' at UAKON - Urological Association of Kerala annual meeting held on 24-01-21. The prize-winning video was for 'Laparoscopic Management of Vascular Injury during Partial Nephrectomy in a Solitary Kidney'. The patient had only one kidney and was presented to VPS Lakeshore hospital with a complex renal tumour in the only kidney he had. The latter was advised only for open surgery from many hospitals all around Kerala. However, the doctors of VPS Lakeshore successfully treated him with 3D laparoscopic surgery saving the patients sole kidney. We are also happy to share that he got discharged in three days and didn't require postoperative dialysis as feared by the patient's family.
