Multivessel MICS CABG AND VALVE Surgery

MICS CABG (Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery/Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) is a heart procedure performed through tiny incisions instead of the traditional open-heart surgery. Read more to know about MICS CABG.

MICS CABG (Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery/Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) is a heart procedure performed through tiny incisions instead of the traditional open-heart surgery.  Traditional heart surgeries normally require a median sternotomy approach, a type of surgical procedure in which a vertical inline incision is made along the breast bone, after which the breast bone itself is divided, or cracked.

In MICS CABG, the surgeon accesses the heart through a small incision between the ribs. It has emerged as an alternative treatment for patients with various heart diseases.
Most patients do not require a heart-lung bypass machine, nor is it necessary to stop the patient's heart. Although the technique is just as successful as the conventional approach, it requires far less time to recuperate, carries a lower risk of complications, and causes less discomfort and scarring.

The potential benefits of Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery:

Small scar
Less painful
Minimal blood loss
Early ambulation
Shorter hospital stay, faster healing, and quicker return to regular activities.
Results equal to open technique.
Cosmetic outlook

Cons of Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery:

Not advised in patients with Morbid Obesity
Cannot be performed in patients with Severe LV dysfunction
Emergency Surgery cannot be performed
Redo Surgery cannot be performed

Your doctor will likely examine your medical history and likely request tests to learn more about your heart health to decide whether Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery is the best course of action.
